Stamp Off Glossy Cardstock Technique

Welcome to another weekly Friday Stamp Off Challenge,
offered by Susan, Buffy and Jackie.
As June speeds past, we are 1 month into the new
2017-18 Stampin' Up! catalog.  One of my favorite new
products is Glossy White Cardstock, found on page 194.
So many lovely techniques can be done with
this cardstock.  SU sold it years ago, and finally
brought it back, which makes me very happy!

I create many of my Stamp Off challenge posts
in advance, given travel and other activities.
I had already created this post,
before last week's challenge,
where Buffy used this technique .

I love  the fact that you can drag an ink pad
across Glossy cardstock,
to create kind of a woodgrain look.  Unlike Whisper White
cardstock, smears or "mistakes" are more easily corrected
on Glossy cardstock.  In the sample above, I dragged
my Memento ink pad across the glossy layer.  After it
dried, I added streaks of Wisteria Wonder.
Jar of Love, on page 29, with coordinating
Everyday Jars Framelits Dies (p 213) is a wonderful
"go-to" set.  In this example, I stamped the
Daffodil and Wisteria Wonder flowers on Glossy
Cardstock.  The jar of flowers was attached.
I can't wait to see what Buffy and Susan
create with Glossy cardstock, so please check
out their projects!

Celebrations Duo with Lovely Inside & Out

I'm still experimenting with new product from the
2017-18 catalog.  There is just something about
"new rubbah", that gets the juices flowing.  It's
fun when you get an idea in your head
and then try to create it.  Sometimes it is just as
you pictured the finished project.
Other times you take a journey that
ends up in a totally different location!

In this case, I pretty much ended up with the picture
that I had in my head.  I ran whisper white cardstock
through the Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions
Embossing Folder on page 211.  Next, I stamped
the "burst" shape from the Lovely Inside and Out
set on page 157, in Pool Party, Wild Wasabi and
Crumb Cake.  My favorite part is the way the bits of color
emphasize the letters.  I added "Birthday" from the
Thoughtful Banners set on page 66.  The Linen
Thread finished things off.

Oval Tranquil Tulips

One of the lovely things about a new catalog, is new
Hostess Sets that can be earned with a workshop.
Tranquil Tulips, on page 223 is a stunning set.
It is a two step stamping photopolymer set,
that is easy to match up.  In this example, I used Sweet
Sugarplum and the new Berry Burst In colors (on page 184). Tranquil Tulips fits perfectly in the
Stitched Shapes Framelits and Layering Ovals
Framelits, both found on page 214.

The wording comes from the Lovely Words Thinlits,
also on page 214. They can be used within the frame,
or cut out for use of the words alone.  I mounted
the oval image on a piece of Wild Wasabi, run through
the Seaside Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

Stamp Off Seasonal Layers Thinlits Challenge

Yippee Skippee, it's another play date with
Susan and Buffy.  I so enjoy our Fridays together,
where we challenge one another to use SU product.
This week, we are to use a new Framelit or Thinlit
on our challenge project.  Easy Peasy because the new
Stampin' Up! products include some outstanding
new Framelits and Thinlits!!

This one was a no-brainer for me.  I had to go with
the Seasonal Layers Thinlits on page 216.  Maybe it's
old age, but that adirondack chair, with lovely
branch and flowers all speak to me.  First, I sponged color on to Glossy White Cardstock (p 194).  I love this product because sponging can be a frustrating technique,
but colors blend easily on Glossy paper.
I stamped textures on to my background layer,
with the Timeless Textures set on page 154.

Images from Seasonal Layers were run through the Big Shot, sponged, and glued down.  I didn't feel the need to add
a sentiment to the front of the card, as it would disrupt
the restful nature of the card front.

I'm so glad that you stopped by to check out our Friday
Stamp Off Challenge.  Now click on over to see the
wonderful projects on Buffy and Susan's Blogs.

Negative Daisy Punch

Another fun new product is the Daisy Punch, on page 206,
that coordinates with the Daisy Delight set on page 127.
In this example, I used the negative of the punched image
to create the focus, by layering it over the DSP from the Color Theory DSP pack on page 187.  I love this pack!

The other "sliver" of DSP comes from the
Wood Textures Designer Series Paper stack on page 187.
These two paper stacks are so interesting!   Adding
a bit of wood to a card creates such interest.  Additionally,
it enhances the masculine aspect of any card
(although girls like it, too).

The Old Olive and Early Espresso layers were run through
the Oh My Stars (p 210) Textured Impressions
Embossing Folder.  I find that it kind of coordinates
with the Daisy Punch.   The stars even have 8 points,
like the 8 petals of the daisy.

Happy Birthday Thinlits Die on DSP

The Happy Birthday Thinlits die on page 213, is a
pretty neat product.  It is large, so can be the feature on
a card. This enables you to rapidly create a birthday card.   It can be cut apart, to use either word (you'll
see this on a future card), or stacked up to create a
3-d impression.   In this example, I layered it on
retired DSP and added the sentiment from
Thoughtful Banners on page 66.
