WCC27 Iris Twist Watercooler Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/
Yippee Skippee, it's time for another Watercooler Challenge!
Today is MY technique challenge. This technique is known
by several names, including Iris Twist, but I think the
Watercooler ladies may have felt it was more of
a "Twisted Challenge!"

It was a bit harder than it looked!
In the sample above, the top photo shows how strips
or triangles of card stock are layered on a
a punched image.  The bottom shows the completed card.

For my iris opening, I used the
Balloons Framelits on page 172.  I felt the concept of
a hot air balloon was perfect for this challenge.
I first embossed the background with the Boho Chic
Embossing Folder (love love) on page 174.  I also
embossed strips of Always Artichoke, Blackberry Bliss
and Perfect Plum.  Those strips were then layered,
from the back side of the balloon, to form the twisted pattern.
The sentiment from the Project Life Remember This
set was then added between layers to complete
the twisted balloon.
This is a great way to use up paper scraps.
Were I to do this technique again, I would omit
the sentiment from the center and place it elsewhere
on the cards, as some of the other Watercooler
ladies have done.
Please join our challenge by entering your twisted project!
